Acorn Foundation's committment to our community was recognised at the 2011 Westpac Tauranga Business Awards on 4th November. Acorn received the award for Community Organisation of the Year at the gala dinner held at the new TECT Arena at Baypark Stadium. Acorn's deputy Chair Tracy Rea briefly shared the Acorn story with the 500 guests who included Tauranga Mayor Stuart Crosby, and MPs Tony Ryall and Simon Bridges.
A very exciting milestone for the Acorn Foundation.
Community Endowment Funds
A Community Endowment Fund is created by a formal agreement between the Acorn Foundation and a particular charitable organisation.
The Acorn Foundation works with these community groups and charities to help them secure their own long term funding. We have a very informative pamphlet that outlines how community groups can formulate a bequest and endowment strategy. Please download the pdf attachment below.
These groups have set up their own endowment fund within Acorn, and supporters are encouraged to contribute directly to the fund. As the capital grows, so will the annual distributions back to the agencies. These distributions may be used entirely at the discretion of the community group, which means that in the future they will have to spend less time chasing funding, and more time focusing on the valuable contributions they make to our community.
To find out how you can help by contributing to their endowment fund, contact the Acorn Foundation (Ph 579 9839 or email info@acornfoundation.org.nz), or click on the website link below for the following community groups:
Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Services
