Dale Carnegie Scholarship
Since 1912 Dale Carnegie Training has been training people and businesses in practical principles and processes that help add value to their line of work.
In 2011, Acorn Donors Roy and Mary McGowan decided to use some of their Acorn Foundation fund to offer Dale Carnegie scholarships to students from around the Western Bay of Plenty region. The scholarships will enable each student to attend the Dale Carnegie Course. The course focuses on such topics as ‘Sell Yourself and Your Ideas’ and ‘Improve Interpersonal Skills’. In this day and age, entering into the ‘real world’ of the competitive marketplace can be very daunting for young graduates.
Andrea Shaw, training director of Dale Carnegie in BOP/Waikato says ‘if a young person has confidence in their own abilities, can communicate effectively and work within a team, their skills become an asset to their organisation.’
This is the first time a charitable organisation has offered such scholarships to our local young achievers.
