Acorn Foundation's committment to our community was recognised at the 2011 Westpac Tauranga Business Awards on 4th November. Acorn received the award for Organisation of the Year at the gala dinner held at the new TECT Arena at Baypark Stadium. Acorn's deputy Chair Tracy Rea briefly shared the Acorn story with the 500 guests who included Tauranga Mayor Stuart Crosby, and MPs Tony Ryall and Simon Bridges.
A very exciting milestone for the Acorn Foundation.

Michaela Kamo
Michaela Kamo's dream to study while also looking after her 3 children became a reality thanks to the generosity of Eva Trowbridge, one of the Acorn Foundation's first donors.
Before Eva died in 2006, she set up a fund through the Acorn Foundation, and now every year a scholarship is awarded to a mature student studying at the Tauranga campus of the University of Waikato.
In 2009, this scholarship was awarded to Kate Flanagan, who said, "When I am studying at night, I really feel like I have Eva Trowbridge's angel sitting on my shoulder".
