As a much loved and cherished only child, Jeanne said she lived a very sheltered life, being brought up in Morrinsville, but was always taught to share what she had. Although Jeanne was not in paid employment as a young woman, she later developed a satisfying career working for the Tauranga Hospital Board, and subsequently for private medical practices. She remembered those times, and the people she met through her career, very fondly.
Jeanne Round was one of the Acorn Foundation’s very first donors, and became a great advocate of the Foundation. For her it gave just the right balance between being able to decide how her money would be used, and having support with the practicalities of making her donations.
“When I set up my Acorn fund, it gave me a real gladness in my heart. I’ve been blessed by my parents; I’ve been blessed by this land. I’ve been blessed by the people I know, and by those I don’t know. I’ve had a wonderful life, and I just want to make other people’s lives a bit happier if I can.”
