Margo Kirk
1931 - 2024
Margo was born and raised in the Hawkes Bay. She had a nursing background, and as a young woman her family moved to Tauranga.
Margo went on to marry Edward Kirk (Ted) together they owned and operated a trucking company called Kirk and Graham Transport. Further to that they went on to own a bus company called Victor Transport. Later Margo purchased two bag shops in downtown Tauranga. She proved to be a very successful businesswoman; she developed a quiet determination and resilience which stood her in good stead all her life. Together they had 4 children, whom all still live in the Tauranga district.
Sadly, her husband passed in 1990, she moved from her Tauranga home and built her dream home on the family property on Marine Parade. There she spent 30 years or so of loving life on the beach, entertaining family and friends, beach walks, golf, and an active member of the Mt Maunganui Bridge Club.
The biggest joy in Margo’s life was her family, and later her many grandchildren, she always encouraged and marvelled in their sports and academic achievements alongside their community involvement.
Margo understood the benefits of community involvement for her children and grandchildren. Nearly all her grandchildren have been active members of the Omanu Surf Club. Margo was proud to see her grandchildren contributing and enjoyed watching them with their achievements and successes along the way.
