Local Generosity Delivers a Record $6.2 Million for the Western Bay
This year, Acorn Foundation has distributed $6.2 million to more than 280 organisations and community groups across the WBOP and beyond. Behind every distribution is a local donor wanting to give back, and an organisation that knows where support can make the biggest difference.
This year, Acorn’s Vital Impact Fund is supporting migrant communities. The people who choose to make our region their home bring valuable skills, experience, culture and fresh perspectives. But settling in a new country isn’t always easy. Language barriers, unfamiliar systems, finding work and feeling socially isolated can all make it difficult to find a sense of belonging.
Through this year’s distributions, Acorn donors are helping community organisations offer welcoming spaces, trusted advice and opportunities to connect. This support helps newcomers find the information they need, build relationships and take part in community life.
Acorn donors are also supporting a wide range of other needs, including food security, mental health and wellbeing, youth development, elder support, education, disability services, environmental care, and arts and culture.
Some donors choose the organisations or causes closest to their hearts. Others ask Acorn to direct their funding to where it can make the greatest difference. They may give during their lifetime or leave a gift in their will, with invested funds continuing to support the community year after year.
