Acorn's Vital Impact Fund gets another boost thanks to TECT beneficiaries

The Acorn Foundation would like to say a huge thank you to the TECT beneficiaries who generously gifted their December rebate to the WBOP community via the Acorn Foundation.

The $11,250 was donated to the Acorn Vital Impact Fund, which distributes to local WBOP organisations that are working to tackle the most pressing issues in our community. Funding local organisations like these enable them to continue supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

In 2022, the Acorn Vital Impact Fund supported the following local organisations:

Awhina House: Providing homeless Tauranga women with transitional housing and care. Awhina House works hard to empower women, helping them transform their lives. They work with a range of local providers to provide wraparound services to help women gain independence.

Tauranga Community Foodbank: Providing support in the form of food parcels to families and people in need in the Tauranga region.

Tauranga Community Housing Trust: Community housing provider, promoting the well-being of individuals and families through the provision of quality, appropriate and affordable housing.

Te Aranui Youth Trust: Working in conjunction with the NZ Police and Ministry of Education, Te Aranui Youth provides a number of interventions for vulnerable youth between the ages of 7-14. The trust deals with a wide range of children who may have experienced poverty, domestic violence, drug/alcohol abuse and the social challenges that arise from these issues.

The Elms Foundation: The Elms|Te Papa Tauranga is one of New Zealand's oldest heritage sites. As a place of early contact between Māori and Pākehā, this historic site remains at the centre of Tauranga’s history and identity today.  The Elms’ vision is to be widely recognised by Māori and Pākehā as a sacred place of significant historical importance.

This is the fourth year in a row that TECT beneficiaries have had the option of donating their rebate to the Acorn Vital Impact Fund. The Acorn Foundation is so appreciative of this ongoing partnership with local funder TECT, which provides an easy way for charitable people to give back to worthy causes in the WBOP.

Acorn Foundation CEO Lori Luke says, “The generosity shown by TECT beneficiaries will make a real difference to these hard-working community groups and those they serve. Their contribution will support these organisations to continue providing life-changing services to vulnerable individuals and whānau in our community. Thank you to TECT and their kind beneficiaries for their on-going support.”
