What our Charity Fund Is

When you give to our Charity Fund through the Acorn Foundation, you are choosing a legacy gift that will ensure we can continue to stand beside peoples, families and whānau and communities affected by sexual harm today, and into the future. Your gift becomes part of a lasting source of care, ensuring that when someone reaches out Tautoko Mai can be there with compassion, specialist support and hope.

Because your donation is invested, and the income it produces is distributed to our charity each year, your generosity continues to make a difference long after the gift is made to our charity, while the original capital remains protected. This means that instead of a one-off lumpsum of funding, we will receive ongoing annual income support from your donation.

For Tautoko Mai, this kind of reliable, long-term financial support means we can plan with confidence, to retain experienced staff, and respond where the need is greatest. Children, teens, adults, families and whānau can receive long term support where our current funding models fall short.  Your help supports those who have suffered harm to begin to heal with dignity, safety and hope. 

About Tautoko Mai

Tautoko Mai Sexual Harm Support Services provides support to people and their family/whanau at some of the most difficult moments of their lives. We walk alongside children, teens, adults and communities with aroha, compassion, respect, and hope.

Each year, more than 1,900 individuals are referred to Tautoko Mai seeking medical support, short-term counselling and social work, long-term therapy or court support. We support people in crisis and work with individuals, families/whanau to rebuild safety and trust. We provide support to all ages and all ethnicities.

We provide support to our clients and their family/whanau in the Bay of Plenty region and in the Waikato both in our offices and in the community. We receive referrals from clients directly, or from multiple agencies and organisations, including the Police, Ministry of Children/Oranga Tamariki, ACC, Community Groups, GP’s and Schools.

At the same time, we invest in prevention by helping communities, schools, caregivers, and organisations learn about consent, healthy relationships, and how to respond safely to disclosures of harm.
