STEAM-ED provides afterschool, home-school, in-school and holiday programme sessions focussing on STEM topics. We educate children 5-13yrs on topics such as Robotics, Space exploration, Inventions over the ages, Ecology and whatever else STEM based (with some Art included) that we feel the children will be interested in.
Formerly the educational classroom wing of House of Science Tauranga, STEAM-ED endeavours to break down barriers that some children experience that prevent them from having a go at science and technology. We have arranged to take our robotics programmes into low decile schools to work with small groups of children and teaching staff, so we are giving professional development at the same time as the lesson. We hope to expand this free service as funding becomes available and we move out of restrictions imposed by Covid-19.
Our smaller class sizes also allow us to nurture those with learning disabilities such as ADHD and mild autism, and we find these children are often passionate about the topics we study at STEAM-ED.
