About House of Science New Zealand Charitable Trust

House of Science was established in 2013 in Tauranga and serves the Bay of Plenty region with the mission of raising scientific literacy and supporting all children, regardless of their background, to become confident, curious learners. 

They work primarily by supplying bilingual (English and te reo Māori) science resource kits to primary and intermediate schools, complete with hands-on materials, teacher manuals and student worksheets.  Because every school’s membership is heavily subsidised, cost isn’t a barrier, meaning more children can access quality science experiences. 

House of Science partners with schools and community groups to reach children across every socio-economic sector, boost self-esteem, increase engagement in learning, support teachers’ capability and open up pathways into future employment and a world of innovation.
