Christians Against Poverty
Christians Against Poverty offers free help to support New Zealanders to find freedom from debt, poverty and its causes. Working in partnership with local churches throughout Aotearoa, over 1,500 New Zealanders have gone completely debt free, with thousands more helped to break free from drivers of poverty such as unemployment, life-controlling habits and a lack of essential life skills.
Families who call CAP for help have often exhausted every other avenue and are at breaking point. The Acorn Foundation’s funding ensures that families in the Bay of Plenty who are living in poverty have somewhere to turn when they most need it, ensuring they get out of debt and learn vital financial literacy skills going forward.
CAP’s services are completely free to clients and, thanks to the generosity from the Acorn Foundation, CAP can spend more time helping families in the Bay of Plenty who really need it.
Already, 89 people in Bay of Plenty have gone completely debt free – an impact that will span generations!
In 2019 and 2020, Christians Against Poverty received funding from the J Chappell-Mathias and M Sutherland Funds, along with one other anonymous donor.
