Youth Development Trust Western Bop
The Youth Development Trust transforms young lives forever through proven child and youth development programmes. They deliver long term programmes such as Project K, Stars, and Kiwi Can, through partnerships with schools, and other providers to provide wrap around services for young people, their whanau and communities, achieving significant results. The Youth Development Trust builds resilience, social connectedness, raises self-esteem and an "I Can" approach to life through these 3 successful programmes:
Project K reaches the most at-risk youth in participating schools through a 3-step process: a 3-week Wilderness Adventure, an 8-day Community Challenge and 12 month mentoring programme with an adult mentor.
Stars is a whole-school mentoring programme. The Stars programme reaches year 9 pupils through trained year 12 and 13 students throughout the year.
Kiwi Can is a whole-school preventive programme that reaches every vulnerable young person in participating schools. This builds capacity in children long term, seeing dramatic reductions in bad behaviour such as bullying and truancy, and improved attendances and learning outcomes.
